High Efficiency 24V to 5V 12V 15A 75W 180W Enclosed Switching AC DC Converter Power Supply for Industrial Automation CE 8-28V

Product Description

High Efficiency 24V to 5V 12V 15A 75W 180W Enclosed Switching AC DC Converter

Core Features

A DC/DC converter is a voltage converter that effectively outputs a fixed voltage after converting input voltage. These converters are classified into three primary categories: Boost type, Boost & Buck type, and Buck type. Depending on industrial demand, three kinds of control mechanisms can be adopted:

  • PWM Control: Provides high efficiency with excellent output voltage ripple and noise suppression.
  • PFM Control: Offers low power consumption even during extended use, particularly under small loads.
  • Hybrid Control: Automatically switches between PFM (small load) and PWM (heavy load) for optimized performance.

Widely used in mobile communication, digital photography, and portable media players, these converters are essential components in modern chopper circuits for industrial automation.

Technical Application Guide

  • Protection Standard: All products feature overcurrent, short-circuit, undervoltage, and chip overheating protection. Large power supplies include casing/PCB over-temperature protection (approx. 90°C).
  • Inductive Loads: For coils, magnetic valves, speakers, and motors, we recommend a power supply 3-5 times the rated power of the load.
  • Isolated vs Non-Isolated: Non-isolated buck converters carry a risk of high input voltage passing to the output if they fail. For precious loads, isolated products are strongly recommended.
  • Negative Voltage: Isolated power supplies support negative voltage input. Note that the 0V line connects to the red wire and the negative voltage line to the black wire.
  • Installation Note: To prevent damage, always add appropriate fuses at the input end, especially for boost series products which lack inherent short-circuit protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between isolated and non-isolated converters?
Isolated converters provide a physical electrical barrier between input and output, enhancing safety and protecting loads from high voltage pass-through. Non-isolated converters are generally more efficient and compact but share a common ground.
How do I choose a power supply for motor applications?
For inductive loads like motors or magnetic valves, it is recommended to select a power supply with a power rating 3 to 5 times higher than the load's rated power to handle startup surges.
Are these converters waterproof?
Many of our enclosed switching converters, such as the IPS-ATD24S515, are rated at IP67, making them highly resistant to water and dust in industrial environments.
What happens if the input voltage is much higher than the output?
For applications where input voltage is three times or more than the output, we strongly recommend using isolated products to improve reliability and operational safety.
Do boost converters have short-circuit protection?
Due to their circuit structure, standard step-up (boost) series products do not have built-in output short-circuit protection. Users should install appropriate fuses at the input end.
Can isolated power supplies support negative voltage?
Yes, isolated power supplies can support negative voltage input, and the output can be configured for either positive or negative voltage depending on the wiring.
